The Fortaleza Ituxi Project protects forests located in one of the regions with the highest deforestation rate in the Amazon Rainforest: the municipality of Labrea. Over the next 30 years, more than 46,592,000 hectares of this biodiverse Amazon landscape will be conserved. This project utilizes sustainable forest management to preserve the integrity of the land. The forest management plan started in 2013 and has a proposed duration of 30 years. In 2015, over 1.1 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions were estimated to have been reduced from the atmosphere.
